Navigate the Result Manager
The Result Manager gives you full control over the search results your customers see: pin specific products or pages to appear at the top of the search results, create custom search results or promote specific products.
Configure a result mapping
Start by creating a result mapping, which allows you to define and control how search results appear for specific queries.
Step 1: Create a trigger
A trigger is a condition that defines when the result mapping should be applied. A trigger could be based on the user's search query, search intent, or category.
- Select what the trigger should be based on:
- Search query - The exact terms the user enters in the search bar. This is useful when you want to target very specific searches.
- Search intent - The purpose behind the user's search. Use this if you want to apply the same behavior to a wide range of queries that share the same intent.
- Category - The category of products or content. Applies only if Zoovu powers your product listing pages (PLPs).
- Choose how the trigger should match the user's input.
- Enter the keywords or phrases, separated by the Enter key.
Trigger Type | Example |
---|---|
Matches | If the keyword is "laptop," the results will only show when the query is "laptop". |
Contains part of word | Specified results will be shown for queries like "smartphone" or "telephone" (containing "phone"). |
Contains entire word | The mapping triggers for phrases like "tablet case" or "tablet with stylus." |
Matches a regex | If the regex is `^(laptop |
Use "contains" with caution, especially for short letter combinations like “ev” or “red.” These may match far more search queries than intended. Always test your trigger to make sure it works as expected.
Step 2: Configure an action
Once the trigger is set, define what actions should occur when the trigger condition is met.
There are three main actions that can be performed when a mapping is triggered:
- Customize results: Create a specific set of results deemed most relevant to any query, including setting a strict order for these results.
- Rewrite trigger: Redirect certain search terms to the desired results.
- Redirect to URL: Redirect users to specific pages based on their search queries.
Apply filters
Filters allow you to limit your search results to a specific value. For example, if you have a "price" filter, you can set a numeric range to show products that cost between $10 and $20.
To set the order to ascending or descending, select a filter from the dropdown list and then click the icon next to it. Choose "Low to high" or "High to low":
For example, you can enter a keyword like "cheap" and sort the results by price: low to high. Then search for "cheap [anything]" to see affordable items from your catalog.
Append results
Add additional search terms to show similar products, accessories, or related content. These results will be added to the end of the current list and not mixed in with the original results.
Remove results
Refine your search by entering search terms that bring up unwanted products or content. This helps clean up the search results and remove irrelevant items.
For example, enter "outdated model" to remove older products from the search results.
Set date range
Use the toggle next to "When" to specify if the mapping should always be applied or only within a particular date range. If the toggle is on, a calendar will appear where you can select the date range.
Add a description
Under "MISC," you can create an optional internal description of the mapping for you or your team. This can help keep track of the purpose and details of each mapping.
Preview search results
To see how your search mappings appear in the results:
- Go to the "Search Preview" tab.
- Enter a keyword in the search box and press Enter.
- Hover over the query matching symbol to view the applied mappings.
Autocomplete queries
Autocomplete queries help guide your customers to specific products or content as they type in the search box.
For example, if you want to highlight your latest smartphone models, you can configure autocomplete to suggest options like "wireless gaming keyboard" when users start typing "wire".
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Automatically suggest popular queries | Suggest popular queries based on user searches from your Dashboard analytics, updated every 3 days. |
Group label | Assign an internal name to your group of query suggestions. |
Maximum number of items to show in suggestions | Limit the number of autocomplete suggestions to make sure they display well on all screen sizes. |
Edit list of query suggestions | Add or modify suggestions by clicking the “+ Add” button. Control which products or categories appear as users type. |
