Map answers in a localized catalog

When localizing an assistant for different regions, some configurations apply globally, while others must be updated for each locale. This guide explains how to adjust mapping rules during localization to ensure accurate product recommendations and user experience.

Most settings are managed in the default locale and automatically applied to all other locales. These include:

  • Adding new questions
  • Setting up question routes
  • Styling the assistant theme

Changes made in the default locale sync across all other locales automatically.

Some elements must be adjusted separately for each locale, such as:

  • Product catalog
  • Mapping rules for recommendations

When localizing the product catalog for a specific country, you can auto-translate attribute values (e.g., color names or product types). However, the mapping between answers and product recommendations must be updated manually.

Adjust mapped values

To update answer mappings for a localized catalog:

  • Open the assistant and go to the Flow tab.
  • Select the locale in the top left corner above the flow.
  • Select the question you want to adjust.
  • Click the Mapping Rules icon next to the relevant answer.
  • Update the mapped value to the corresponding localized value.

Non-mandatory values

If you have additional non-mandatory values in your localized catalog:

  • Go to Design > Product Attributes > Used in Results and add the new values.
  • Use custom CSS to display only relevant attributes for each country.
